Here is a walkthrough I put together on Revit, it just shows the exterior of the building. This is similar to how the finished product will look but the windows and doors might be in different locations but it should give a general idea of what it could look like with the solar panels on the top.
Looks good Justin,
ReplyDeleteFor some reason one of my posts to you vanished, it may have been too long so I will just give you the info on Monday.
Peace
Chris
Yeah I got the email but it didn't show up on here, very weird. Anyways thanks for all the helpful information. I look forward to looking over the information on monday.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Justin
Score! I found this blurp about folding shipping containers. Perhaps it will strike some ingenious ideas for you. Enjoy.

Really cool walkthrough you have Justin. I can't wait to see more of your research. I was searching this neat site yesterday and found this for you. Hope it helps you out.

Hey, have you thought about maybe doing like a community of the storage containers? So that way you could link them all together with solar or have mechanical in one storage container that provides for many others so that there is more room in each individual container?
ReplyDeleteI'm really intrigued with yours though, and I'll be checking to see how the research comes...
Looks really good Justin! I also saw a lot of videos on YouTube about shipping container homes that you might find useful. Seems like there is a lot information to be found there. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYour design looks amazing man!
ReplyDeleteI was surfing the internet after the Japan earth quake and a site I came across had some design opinions on shipping containers and how they could really help out in places where natural disasters have occured. Maybe even send in your design and see if someone at this site would consider building your design!

@Marc: The idea of doing a community of containers is interesting; However, for the purpose of this research project I will be focusing on a single dwelling unit which has the ability to link together with another container if that is desired.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone else for the helpful links I will be sure to check them all out.
Very nice walk-through!
ReplyDeleteI found an article about the "instant built house" (IBH). I thought it may have some aspects which you hadn't considered such as window shutters.

Also I'm not sure if your sticking with strictly shipping containers because you proposal said "and other recyclable materials." If your still open to other ideas as well I found a page which contrasts a number of different designs currently being used.
