Check out my Graphic

Here is a walkthrough I put together on Revit, it just shows the exterior of the building. This is similar to how the finished product will look but the windows and doors might be in different locations but it should give a general idea of what it could look like with the solar panels on the top.

  5. Hey, have you thought about maybe doing like a community of the storage containers? So that way you could link them all together with solar or have mechanical in one storage container that provides for many others so that there is more room in each individual container?

I'm really intrigued with yours though, and I'll be checking to see how the research comes...

  6. Looks really good Justin! I also saw a lot of videos on YouTube about shipping container homes that you might find useful. Seems like there is a lot information to be found there. Good luck!

  7. Your design looks amazing man!
I was surfing the internet after the Japan earth quake and a site I came across had some design opinions on shipping containers and how they could really help out in places where natural disasters have occured. Maybe even send in your design and see if someone at this site would consider building your design!

  8. @Marc: The idea of doing a community of containers is interesting; However, for the purpose of this research project I will be focusing on a single dwelling unit which has the ability to link together with another container if that is desired.

Thanks everyone else for the helpful links I will be sure to check them all out.

  9. Very nice walk-through!

I found an article about the "instant built house" (IBH). I thought it may have some aspects which you hadn't considered such as window shutters.

Also I'm not sure if your sticking with strictly shipping containers because you proposal said "and other recyclable materials." If your still open to other ideas as well I found a page which contrasts a number of different designs currently being used.
